1. Doesn't Salman Rushdie have a book called The Ground Beneath Her Feet? Is it related to the U2 song?

Yes it is. Rushdie's book has a rock-and-roll storyline and he wrote the lyrics to a song he titled "The Ground Beneath Her Feet." He gave the lyrics to Bono and asked him to put the words to music. The band did, and that song appears on the movie's soundtrack, as well as some versions (UK, Australian, etc.) of All That You Can't Leave Behind. [M2]

2. Is it true there's a link between The Million Dollar Hotel and the Elevation Tour?

Well, yes, but it seems to be just an amazing coincidence. The action in the movie concludes on March 24, 2001 ... which happens to be the opening night of the Elevation tour! [M2]

3. I heard Bono and Mel Gibson had a fight over The Million Dollar Hotel. Is that true?

Kind of. It all started when Gibson told some Australian reporters that he thought the movie was "as boring as a dog's arse." Bono responded months later, when the movie was finally released in limited distribution in the U.S., by suggesting that "Deep down, maybe he likes the explosions and the car chases" better than movies like The Million Dollar Hotel. For what it's worth, Gibson is said to have personally apologized for his comments to director Wim Wenders. [M2]

4. How come the tracklisting on my copy of All That You Can't Leave Behind is different from what was originally released as the tracklisting?

Supposedly The Edge changed up the tracklisting shortly before the album was pressed, but after a track listing was posted on the official web site U2.com. Thus the confusion. The two listings compare as shown below. [AS]
